TREATMENT OF SECONDARY CLEFT LIP AND NASAL DEFORMITY

Abstract
The nasal deformities remain as a major problem for the patient with repaired cleft lip. Despite the incorporation of nasal repair technique into some methods for primary cleft lip repair, the need for secondary nasal revision, remains usually. Among the numerous methods of cleft lip no, e deformity correction, no single procedure has been developed to provide a standard approach for the problem of the cleft lip nose deformity.
But no matter how varied the deformities, the major goal is to make the nostrils symmetrical state.
We corrected eighteen cleft lip nose cases during last year. The thirteen cases were unila-teral and the remains were bilateral clefts.
The main components of our operative methods were conchal cartilage on lay graft, Z-plasty on lateral nasal vestibule and revision of previous operative scars. The adjunctive methods were Abbe flaps, orbicularis oris muscles repair, on lay bone graft and silastic implantation. Thus we represent our methods and cases with a review of literatures.
